If you plan to study in Canada for more than 6 months, you will need to get a Study permit. You can choose from a wide range of schools and courses, from studying English/French language or attending professional private schools or Universities. The duration of the visa depends on the duration of the chosen course.

A unique feature of the Canadian study system is the offer of "co-op study programs" which combine theoretical and practical parts of the course, with a possibility of professional experience with Canadian employers.

In order to be granted a study permit, it is necessary to prove:

  • confirmation of enrollment at selected school (Letter of Acceptance)
  • sufficient funds to cover costs throughout your stay in Canada
  • an interest in staying in Canada only temporarily for the purpose of studying
  • suitable prepaid health insurance

From July 2018 all applicants for Canada's study permit are required to have their biometric data (face and fingerprints) collected.

Student visa allows you to work 20 hours a week during course time (excluding English or French students) and unlimited hours during holidays. Many specialist study programs also offer the opportunity to work 40 hours per week during the second, practical part of the study - co-op program.

The student visa fee is CAD $ 150 + CAD $ 85 for collecting biometric data. At OnBoard Study, we will be happy to help you with the preparation of the required documents, forms and application for student visas, without any extra fees.
