Post-study work visa

Post-study work visa are designed for international students who have completed their studies in New Zealand.

After 26th November 2018 significant changes have been implemented and absolvents no longer need a job offer to obtain this kind of visa.

Those, who applied for student visa after 8th August 2018, when these changes were introduced, are entitled open post-study work visa one year after graduation at level 4 - 6 of min. 60 weeks, and 3 years after the completion of a Bachelor's or higher course of min. 30 weeks.

Transitional measures are also in force for those who complete their studies by the end of 2021 outside Auckland. These graduates may receive a two-year visa for a two-year course at Level 4-6 or one-year course at Level 7. Current student visa holders who have completed the same courses after 26th November 2018 are eligible for a 3-year visa.

The application must be submitted within 3 months after your student visa expires and you must show sufficient funds to live in New Zealand (NZ 4,200). During duration of this visa, you can work full time in any field to gain valuable work experience that can help you in a possible immigration process later on.
